Cascais is a seaside town 30 minutes west of Lisbon, and the starting point for the wild Atlantic coast of the Sintra-Cascais Natural Park: the Boca do Inferno sea arch, surf beaches like Guincho, and Cabo da Roca — the westernmost point of continental Europe.

Further up the coast are the white clifftop village of Azenhas do Mar and the surf town of Ericeira with its old centre. A day trip along this coast is easy from Lisbon — viewpoints, coastal towns and beaches in one go.
