The Sado Emotion trip also lasts about two hours and leaves from Setúbal or Tróia. Its route gives more weight to the beaches and bays of Arrábida after the dolphin search.

5. Best small-group marine programme: Bolhas Tours
The Bolhas Tours activity combines a three-hour cetacean search with a marine biologist, Arrábida coves, a possible swim or snorkel stop and a taste of local Moscatel. The published conditions set a maximum of 17 passengers per boat.
The supplier promotes a perfect sighting record, but treat that number as marketing rather than a guarantee. Choose this tour for its small-group format and marine programme.
How do you get to a dolphin tour from Lisbon without a car?
1. Take the direct train to Setúbal
Fertagus runs direct trains from Roma-Areeiro, Entrecampos, Sete Rios and Campolide to Setúbal. Check the live Fertagus timetable, then leave enough time to reach the meeting point shown on your voucher.
Operators use different docks. Do not search for "Setúbal marina" and assume every boat leaves from the same place.
2. Book the Sesimbra tour with Lisbon transport
Sesimbra has no railway station. The simplest car-free choice is the Vertente Natural tour with central Lisbon transport. If you book a Sesimbra meeting-point tour instead, plan the bus or taxi connection before buying the boat ticket and keep a large delay buffer.
Which dolphin tour is best with children?
A two-hour Setúbal trip is the easiest starting point for most families. The shorter duration limits time on the water, and part of the route runs through the bay and estuary. A speedboat can still bounce in wind or swell, so the destination alone does not guarantee a smooth ride.
Ask the operator six questions before paying:
